Eco-Friendly Macbook

There are two types of college students, as far as I’m concerned. There are Mac people, and PC people. Think about it, your computer is one or the other. There are not many people out there that use something different. This article is for all you Mac fans out there. Recently, with the release of the new Macbook, Apple claims that they are the “greenest” laptop yet.
Just as with the release of the newest Ipod Nano, Apple claims to have made the new Macbook with much more environmentally sound materials, such as an aluminum unibody enclosure, which means that it uses a smaller amount of material to create the same laptop. When you create the Macbook, you s tart with 2.5 pounds of aluminum, and scrap part of it. The scrap parts go under 13 million steps to recycle, but what happens if you use more energy recycling, than you get from the actual restoration of the scraps? Then it’s a large waste of material and energy.
The computer also attempts to use a smaller amount of energy as well. The Macbooks use ¼ of the lightbulb power than the original Macbook laptops did. The computer also uses 30% less LED lighting, and it has a sensor that allows the light to adjust based on necessity. That way, if you are in a well lit room, you don’t have to be wasting your light.
Overall, this sounds like the Macbook will become a great tool for those who want to “go green,” especially those college students who are trying to change the world. Only one problem, this computer is just as expensive as any other Apple product. This computer costs $2499, and they do not seem to be that much better in the actual “computer” department. It seems that any money that Steve Jobs was able to save in the actual Hardware of the computer was placed into being eco-friendly. Now, I’m not saying that is a bad thing, I’m just here telling college students to be careful, because the appeal of an eco-friendly laptop is large, but, not many college students have that extra cash just lying around.
