The Swiss Army Knife of the Technological Age

It seems that every few months, there is a new "hot item" among college students. These items tend to flourish for a certain time period, but as new technologies are brought about, the previous model dies out and is forgotten about. You see this all the time with various objects, but today, I'm talking about cell phones.

I remember when cell phones first became easily accessible for teenagers. The original phone was about six inches long, were a rectangular shape, and didn't do much more than call. Some could receive text messages, and they had a more primitive version of Pong (if that is even possible). The next generation came in, and it was the "flip phone." These phones were much more updated, and had texting capabilities, and were able to "flip," in order to conserve space. The phones came with many more features, and it seemed as though they would be here to stay.

The new generation of phone has come about in two forms. The first, includes phones such as the iPhone, The Verizon Voyager, and other such phones. The new thing about these phones was the WiFi internet capabilities, and the ability to access any part of the phones features through a "touch screen." These screens are usually durable enough that you are able to "touch" the screen and pick out whatever it is you are looking for.

The other type of phone in today's generation is the PDA, or more commonly, the Blackberry. These phones come with a full keyboard, and many features used among businessmen, such as calendars, email, and the ability to save appointments. With the college generation getting busier and busier, it is easy to see why many students are purchasing these and using them to their full extent.

I said it about every other type of phone model that came out, but, I really don't see how they can improve upon these two types of phones. These phones come with ready internet access, and fully programmable date books, email accounts, and other such programs. What else does a cell phone need? As I sit and think about the evolution of the phone thus far, I do not see many possibilities as to making something of such handiness, obsolete. Yet, as each other phone model died out, so will these. I just wonder what is in store for people in the next year or two, as the latest models come into being. With innovations and technologies, the world is becoming a much cooler place.

YES! I completely agree. I have an old-school Chocolate by LG and I literally use it for everything to function at light speed. Its my agenda, calendar, alarm clock, communication device (call/TXT), notepad, MP3 player, camera, and toy. It alerts me for everything so I don't have to worry about anything else. With my phone already being two years old and all the new "gotta have" phones constantly coming out, the sensation of choice is overwhelming. Overall that was a good post. It was straight-forward and true and I bet it relates strongly to more people than just me. Try posting new phones that come out that are supposed to be revolutionary. It'll be able to catch some more attention too.
